Types of beard textures

There are different types of beard texture, but first, there are things to consider in gaining a type of beard texture.

Factors influencing beard textures

1. Hair Growth

One should put hair growth into consideration because the biggest elements that are certainly going to limit your beard choices is operating by the way your hair grows naturally.

If your facial hair does not grow in very thick or fast texture, then that is a point to keep in mind when selecting the beard type or texture you want to emulate.

If you take a long time to show a sizeable length of beard growth, then if you choose a long type of beard, you will need to be prepared to wait to finally accomplish the look you are going for.

2. Shape Of The Face

Your face type is another important deliberation when narrowing down the beard types you can pull off.

Whether you have a square face, a round face, an oval face, or anything else – there are certain beard types that are certainly going to be suitable for you.

Your jaw, the length, and breadth of your face and your cheekbones play a significant role or as an important factor in deciding which beard style is for you.

No two ways about it…

It’s even more interesting.

You get a variety of beard styles or texture if you put this factor into consideration.

This is even more important when it comes to short beard styles, as you won’t be able to hide your facial features underneath your beard.

3. Density Of Facial Hairs

Remarkably, there are some beard types that demand more density than others.

With beard texture in mind, this is an important factor that influences beard texture and should be under an estimate.

If your beards hair doesn’t grow with a lot of beard density, then you might want to acknowledge an irregular facial hairstyle.

However, if your hair grows thick and close together, then choose a style that best compliments that.

This, however, corresponds with our number one factor, Hair growth.

4. Origin Of Beard Texture – Country/Continent

Every country/ continent have a local beard style obsession, some continents may like beards with a dense texture.

While some others will precede over beards with lower or lite textures.

In other words, we can say society influence beard texture because some society operates a uniform sense of style.

A uniform sense of style in the sense that, many will love to rock the beard style that is in vogue, hence it influences beard textures.

5. Beard Style

Indeed, Beard style is an important factor that influences Beard texture squarely.

A thick beard man will have to think twice before deciding to opt for a facial hairstyle that is suitable for men with scanty or patchy beards.

One with patchy or low beard texture cant sport a beard hairstyle that is most suitable for Men with thick beards.

Why?

It is because of there just too many activities that need to be performed…

There are too many factors acting the role of a stumbling block, one is “GENETICS”.

Many men sporting lite beard hairstyles not because they desire it but because of its part of who they are.

More likely to say, it is in their blood.

6. Skin Type

Last but not the least of factors influencing beard texture is your Skin type. Although maintenance of a short facial hair is easy, you should requite concentration to it if you have sensitive skin. Failure to do so will feed you to subtle discomfort or irritation when you shave and trim your beard.

Types Of Beard Texture/Types

Straight Hair – Type 1

Straight hair, also known as Type 1, develops its structure from the shape of the cortex. The fibers of the hair are round, making it drop straight on all sides of the scalp. Straight hair is also determined by its protein composition and the disulfide bonds that occur between hair proteins.
It has little to no hook at the end of the follicle (bulb), which keeps it from growing at an angle.

It doesn’t change much in straightness, but it does change in thickness.

In some cases, hormones and certain medications can change the texture of the hair, making it grow in a different way than originally formed.

Interestingly, straight hair is divided into varieties as well,

Below are the three types of straight hair.

Straight hair: Type 1A

This type of straight hair is soft and shiny, but thin and wispy.

It is very easy to manage and style, but it often needs a little bit of lift at the roots.

A hairstyle we recommend for fine hair is swept to the side — for an instantly sexy look that you can blow-dry.

Make sure to get a hairstyle with layers, for an appearance of more depth.

Straight hair: Type 1B (medium)

Considering it has a tiny bit of higher mass and body, medium straight hair can be very easy to manage.

A sleek ponytail is a perfect candidate for this look, as it’s thick enough to give the hair some style.

However, it is safe to say medium straight hair is not so thick that it breaks rubber rings in the process.

This sophisticated look can be worn in a medium straight hair anytime, any day.

Straight hair: Type 1C (coarse)

This type of straight hair is usually stick-straight and difficult to make in waves or curls, instead of coming in with one or two visible “S” waves.

Long and layered is the way to go here, otherwise, it might be a little too hard to handle.

This is the most resilient of all straight hair types, but it’s a bit more difficult to manage, because of its thickness.

Take advantage of its resilience and wear it long and parted in the middle.

Wavy Hair – 2A

The type of hair is apparently wavy hair in nature.

It is generally exceptional, silky and effortless to manage, straighten or even curl into waves.

It is also unyielding to bounce and frizz, even in the diverse challenging circumstances.

The wave in type 2a hair appears in the form of a slight “S” and sticks close to the head, even when layered.

Due to its fragile nature, type 2a hair tends to be delicate and should be handled with care.

Be sure to apply a heat protecting cream or spray before straightening or curling.

Wavy Hair – 2b & 2C

Now, 2b’s are apparently flatter in appearance.

Compared to 2A, Strands of hair in 2B are thicker in diameter than a 2A, and you’ll have to put in a bit of elbow grease into getting it straight.

Getting it straight is not necessary anyway.

2C – Wavy Hair

2C waves are thick, harsh, and more sensitive to frizzing.

The S-bends are well-defined and begin at the roots.

With this, it is safe to say Type 2C is the thickest form of wavy hair…

Curly Hair – Type 3A

3A strand of hair is thinner in nature, tend to be shiny with large, loose curls that are about the size of a piece of sidewalk chalk.

3B – Curly Hair

3Bs have rough, flexible ringlets with a margin similar to a Sharpie marker.

This hair texture will be needing styling gels.

3C – Curls

They are dense in nature.

3C curls are tight corkscrews that range in circumference from a straw to a pencil. Yara Shahidi is a great example of 3Cs.

Coily Hair (Type 4)

Coily hair, constantly associated to as Afro-textured or kinky hair, is naturally very dry and spongy in texture and can be soft and fine or coarse and wiry. Strands form very tight, small curls of zig-zags right from the scalp and are prone to major shrinkage.

4A

4As have dense springy, S-patterned coils that are the circumference of a crochet needle.

4B

4B Hair strands are densely crowded and can bend in sharp angles like the letter Z.

4C

4C hair is similar to 4B textures, but the tightly coiled strands are more fragile and have a very tight zig-zag pattern that is sometimes indiscernible to the eye.

They experience a great amount of shrinkage if wet.

I understand your point as I had the same issues with my hair as well.

I’ll advise you to get to a barbershop to have your beard shaped. They will help you understand your beard type and see how they can shape for you.

Let me know how it goes.

      Regards
