Can Alcohol Really Help Grow A Beard?
Among the foods, drinks and beverages that have been considered to help grow a beard, I have been wondering whether Beer or methylated spirit or let me put, Alcohol could help in stimulating beard growth. So I went on deeper research and contacted people with experience, here is what I could gather. Trust me, you need to read this if you need something to help your beard grow fast.
One of the worst things for your mental or physical well-being may be that you find yourself wasted every weekend, perhaps, Friday night. But leveraging moderately on alcohol could reveal some substantial health benefits and the possibility of beard growth. Are we sure about the latter? That’s what this article is about.
We want to find out if Alcohol can help grow a beard and how. If you have no idea, you are just in the right place.
The consumption and benefits of alcohol may be based entirely on an individual’s body makeup and type.
In this connection, the reason why alcohol is bad varies from one person to another. But what about the benefits? Is beard growth among the benefits that alcohol has to offer? We are about to find out
Can alcohol or beer help grow a beard?
When consumed in very little amounts, drinking beer or alcohol can help in growing facial hair. This is because the testosterone levels in the blood tend to increase when there is a little intake of alcohol into the body, as shown by research.
Since testosterone is one of the important hormones that stimulate beard growth, there is a high possibility that there will be an intervention in beard growth. In contrast, excessive consumption of alcohol can reduce the testosterone level and consequently affect beard growth negatively.
If you really want to know how alcohol can help Beard to grow, then you should consider having a glimpse (at least) of what stimulates facial hair growth in man.
What stimulates beard growth?
I’m sure you do not expect a very young lad to begin growing a beard at that early stage. Do you? Except you want to see something else LOL.
This means that the stimulation of beard growth kicks off in the puberty stage. (Either early or late) The words in brackets explain why Some men will be able to grow a full beard even in their teens while others will even struggle to grow facial hair even in their 20s or even 30s.
Like I told you in my article about Toothpaste, The growth of the beard is stimulated by two factors which are testosterone and dihydrotestosterone.
What Testosterone does is to prime the facial hair follicles while dihydrotestosterone promotes linear beard growth.
A liquid such as alcohol that will increase your testosterone levels when taken in a minimal portion will aid beard growth.
So how does alcohol help Beard to grow?
Like we’ve confirmed earlier one, the consumption of alcohol in little amounts can actually boost the levels of testosterone in men.
Since Testosterone is one of the hormones that stimulate the growth of facial hair, this is a bingo way to help Beard Grow.
But don’t try to play the role of tortoise here. It is important to note that excessive drinking of alcohol reduces the levels of testosterone in the body and most definitely will, in turn, have a negative impact on the growth of your beard.
Also, if you are one of those conscious men that reads every detail on the back of your facial hair product, you will agree with me that some of the hair products have alcohol in them. This is because the topical application of alcohol penetrates into the skin. This works in hair sprays too.
Since alcohol penetrates the skin hair follicles, It is safe to assume that it is as well used in Rogaine
Some of the natural oil and essential oils you apply on your beard for healthy and fluffy hair growth also have alcohol in them.
A good grooming professional will advise you to mix alcohol with castor oil which is a good natural oil for promoting beard growth. Why? Because alcohol encourages the delivery of castor oil to the roots of the facial hair follicles easily.
But one important thing. Do not forget to hydrate them after applying alcohol as they can dehydrate your hair strands when you forget to do so.
Does alcohol kill dandruff in the beard?
Well, since you’ve confirmed that alcohol can actually make your beard grow. You may start thinking if using it at the utmost utility. Such as using it to chase dandruff from the beard.
In my research, I could not come across any study that shows that applying alcohol or orally consuming it can kill dandruff in your beard. Not even methylated spirit or beer.
But we have some people who claim that washing your head with alcohol helped them control dandruff. But obviously, this has nothing to do with a beard. Or did you just think of washing your beard with alcohol? C’mon.
However, doctors and barbers most especially, use alcohol and methylated spirit as a sterilizer. You must have seen one or two.
So to this end, we may agree that they kill dandruff but I can’t say when it comes to beards. You should look for other effective ways to deal with dandruff which are 110% practicable.
Does rubbing alcohol on facial hair help in growth?
This is a straightforward question and I will not advise you to rub alcohol on your facial hair ordinarily. They will not work!
It is highly recommended that you apply it with a natural, essential oil such as peppermint oil or castor oil alcohol.
This kind of oil helps deliver them into the hair follicles. Hence causing the beard to respond and grow.
Are there other alternatives for growing facial hair?
Certainly! There are other ways to grow a beard if you find alcohol a no-go area for you.
I can show you better ways to grow your beard, naturally, using a special grooming product, a special beard cream or… Talking of desperate methods, a beard implant.
Instead of using alcohol or methylated spirit, you can choose other means to grow facial hair. But note that this also includes increasing the testosterone level and boosting the sensitivity of your genes or the delivery of the hormones to your androgens receptors in your facial hair follicles.
So any of the methods of beard growth that anyone introduced to you that do not achieve what I have just explained is a gimmick! Trust me.
I also want you to understand that the growth of the beard is entirely controlled by your genes and how sensitive they are to testosterone and dihydrotestosterone
What other benefits does alcohol do to the body?
It Can Lengthen Your Life
Do you know that you could add a few years to your life by drinking alcohol occasionally? This doesn’t mean that the more occasionally you drink, the more you have more life. No.
Referring to a particular study by the Catholic University of Campobasso, it was discovered that drinking less than four or two drinks per day for men and women respectively have the chances of keeping the death possibilities at the very minimum of 18%.
2. It Can Improve Your Libido
Some notable researchers found that the chances of erectile dysfunction were reduced by 25 to 30% among alcohol drinkers. This was published in a 2009 study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
This is actually against what most people believe about alcohol. Moderate consumption might actually protect against erectile dysfunction just as you will agree that drinking red wine might benefit heart disease.
3. It Can Decrease Chances Of Developing Dementia
I’ve been able to constantly emphasize on the essence of Small amounts of alcohol consumption.
Alcohol in moderate amounts stresses cells. In other words, toughens them up to thrive in major stresses down the road that could cause dementia. It can also, in effect, make brain cells more fit.
However, I don’t recommend that nondrinkers start drinking just because of this. But if it is truly moderate drinking, it can be beneficial.
As I end this article, I’m sure you now know if alcohol can help your beard grow or not. But honestly, if you ask me on my couch at home, or in an interview, I’d say it’s not worth it.
This is because we are men. And when it comes to matters like this, some may find it hard to determine when you have had enough alcohol to promote beard growth.
I can recall one of my consultant saying that:
You’re not going to a bar, you are going to a work where you grow your beard
Well, instead of drinking alcohol and getting wasted in the process, I would recommend using natural ways or effective beard creams to help you achieve beard growth faster than alcohol will ever do.
